Al Jabal Al Akhdar is rightly known throughout Oman, and further afield, as a mountain of spectacular natural beauty that can literally take your breath away. Its Grand Canyon and terraced gardens incite many people to take the drive up the 2, 980m high mountain. Once there you can also discover old villages, marvel at cliff views, enjoy the local harvest of fresh pomegranates and observe firsthand the ingenuity of the falaj system. You can enjoy visiting Al Jabal Al Akhdar throughout the year: in springtime you can walk along the paths to look at the gardens with their delicate Damask roses in full bloom; in summer you can escape the heat with a picnic under an Al’alan (juniper) tree; autumn is a perfect time for hikes on the numerous trails or just sipping a coffee while enjoying the fresh air. And winter is for those who enjoy a frosty morning before heading out for a day of exploring.
The Omanis who call the mountain their home are proud to share its rich history and kindlywelcome visitors to discover what it holds.
